This library, situated in the typical high rise microrayon architecture of Moscow, is located on a narrow side road in the immediate proximity of the Ring Road. The purpose of this library is to provide better services to the local population, improving its visibility without contradicting the core activities of the library itself. The proximity to the major transportation arteries allows for new functions such as book delivery services to hospitals, nursing homes and medical centres in the south west area of Moscow.

The transformation existed out of the following main operations; 1. creating a more attractive image of the library, introducing standard, recognizable elements such as a logo; 3. increasing over 70% of the "open" space by designing different functional zones; 4. improving accessibility through providing a visual connection between the inside and the outside; 5. more flexible opening hours;

This transformation gives the library the potential to become a true public space, valuable for locals and still visible on the city scale.
